What is Parent/Teen Mediation?

Conflict between parents and teens is normal. There is no counseling or therapy, Mediation gives families the opportunity to identify and resolve their issues or problems such as:

  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
  • COMMUNICATION
  • FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS
  • RESPECT


What do Mediators do?

  • Act as neutrals to help families resolve this differences.
  • Assist families to talk and work on their issues together.
  • Guide families toward a balanced and specific agreement that meets everyone’s needs.

What are the benefits or mediation?

  • It is an informal process
  • Confidential
  • Seeks creative solutions
  • Helps to rebuild a severed relationship
  • Encourages better communication
  • Can be completed in one or two sessions

  1. Communicate clearly with each other.
  2. Analyze situations from all perspectives.
  3. Explore ways that allow each family member to be a contributing part of the home.
  4. Negotiate family rules that are realistic and acceptable to all.
